Pallet Fit Calculator

Check whether a given number of rectangular pallets can fit on the trailer floor using the better of two uniform pallet orientations.

Practical guide

The check calculates floor capacity twice: once with every pallet in its entered orientation and once with every pallet rotated 90°. It compares the requested quantity with the larger of those two capacities.

Change one input at a time when testing alternatives, and use the worked example below as a quick sanity check for units and scale.

How it works

The calculation follows the formula shown in the result card: max(⌊TL ÷ PL⌋ × ⌊TW ÷ PW⌋, ⌊TL ÷ PW⌋ × ⌊TW ÷ PL⌋).

When to use it

Use it before assigning a trailer, accepting a pallet count or checking non-standard pallet dimensions when a quick floor-position answer is needed.

What to check before dispatch

This is a two-dimensional floor check only. It does not mix orientations within one layout and does not consider stacking, weight, axle loads, securing, wheel arches or unusable floor areas.

13.6 × 2.45 m + 1200 × 800 mm → 33 pallets.

Common mistake

Do not treat a “Fits” result as proof that the shipment is legally or physically loadable; available floor positions are only one constraint.

FAQ — Pallet Fit Calculator

Does the calculator mix pallet orientations in one layout?

No. It tests all pallets in one orientation and then all pallets rotated by 90°, and uses the larger floor capacity. Mixed packing is not optimized.

How is the result calculated?

The current inputs are inserted directly into the displayed formula and the result updates immediately. No extra route, payload or loading assumptions are added unless they are explicit inputs.

Can I use this result for a real shipment?

Use it as a planning input, not as final dispatch approval. Verify the actual cargo, vehicle, loading method and applicable legal limits before the truck leaves.
