Convert a quantity of standard 1200 × 800 mm EUR pallets into planning loading metres using 0.40 LDM per pallet.
Inputs
Practical guide
The calculation is a standard floor-area conversion, not a packing algorithm: 1.20 × 0.80 m equals 0.96 m², and 0.96 m² divided by the 2.4 m LDM reference width equals 0.40 LDM.
Change one input at a time when testing alternatives, and use the worked example below as a quick sanity check for units and scale.
How it works
The calculation follows the formula shown in the result card: LDM = Q × 0.40.
When to use it
Use it when a quote, booking or loading plan expresses space in LDM and the shipment consists of standard EUR pallets with no special footprint assumptions.
What to check before dispatch
The 0.40 LDM factor is a planning convention based on a 1.20 × 0.80 m footprint and a 2.4 m reference trailer width. Actual floor fit can differ because of gaps, orientation, non-stackable cargo or trailer geometry.
Worked example
18 × 0.40 → 7.20 LDM.
Common mistake
Do not apply 0.40 LDM to every pallet type. Larger industrial pallets and custom footprints need their own floor-area calculation.
FAQ — Euro Pallet LDM Calculator
Why is one EUR pallet counted as 0.40 LDM?
A 1200 × 800 mm pallet occupies 0.96 m². Dividing that footprint by the common 2.4 m LDM reference width gives 0.40 loading metres.
How is the result calculated?
The current inputs are inserted directly into the displayed formula and the result updates immediately. No extra route, payload or loading assumptions are added unless they are explicit inputs.
Can I use this result for a real shipment?
Use it as a planning input, not as final dispatch approval. Verify the actual cargo, vehicle, loading method and applicable legal limits before the truck leaves.
