What Is LDM in Logistics?
A loading metre represents the share of trailer floor occupied across the standard 2.40-metre internal width. It allows pallets and custom cargo to be compared using one common floor-space unit.
A Euro pallet uses approximately 1.20 × 0.80 ÷ 2.40 = 0.40 LDM. Ten floor-loaded Euro pallets therefore use approximately 4.00 LDM before stacking or layout corrections.
Use the real cargo footprint for custom items and always verify that the planned arrangement is physically loadable.
Driver planning
EU Driver Time Planning Explained
A basic EU freight plan normally inserts a 45-minute break no later than after 4.5 hours of driving. The break may generally be split into 15 minutes followed by 30 minutes.
Daily driving is normally limited to 9 hours and may be extended to 10 hours twice in one week. Weekly limits, rest reductions, loading time, traffic and national exceptions can still change the real schedule.

How Axle Load Distribution Works
A cargo item transfers weight to the front and rear supports according to its position between them. Moving the same load toward the rear increases the rear support share; moving it forward increases the front share.
LogicCalc applies the lever principle to estimate this distribution and highlights positions that may create an unsafe or impractical balance.
The result is a planning model, not a substitute for certified axle weighing, vehicle documentation or legal loading limits.

How to Estimate European Freight Cost
A useful quote starts with distance by country and the configured rate per kilometre. Fuel surcharge, tolls, ferry costs, driver time, vehicle cost and fixed route expenses then build the internal cost.
The customer price is created only after the desired margin and commercial terms are added. Keeping these layers separate makes the quote easier to review and audit.
A market price can differ from calculated cost because of lane demand, season, equipment availability, urgency and return-load probability.
ESG reporting
Truck CO₂ Estimates Without the Fog
LogicCalc first estimates fuel consumption from route distance, vehicle profile and cargo-weight adjustment. In the current model, estimated diesel use is multiplied by 2.64 kg CO₂ per litre.
This creates a consistent comparison between route and loading scenarios, but it does not include every lifecycle emission or replace a certified methodology.
Treat the result as an operational estimate and disclose the assumptions whenever it is used in a customer or ESG report.
